How to Bet on the Belmont Stakes in PA

This year’s race is expected to draw considerable online betting activity, so let’s look at how to bet on the 2020 Belmont Stakes in PA.

While traditional sports books do not offer odds on the race, popular horse racing app TVG does.

TVG, which is owned by the FanDuel Group, is the Pennsylvania market’s best online horse racing betting app. Ahead of the Belmont States, TVG is offering new users a $300 risk-free first bet. This means that you can bet on the Belmont Stakes in PA with no risk should your wager go on to lose.

Like traditional sports betting sites, the TVG sign up process only takes a moment or two and requires standard info (full name, address, username, password). Following registration, new users must fund their accounts.

Here is a look at some deposit options offered by TVG:

  • PayPal
  • PayNearMe
  • Neteller
  • Credit Card
  • Debit Card

Once accounts are funded, players receive a risk-free first bet on the Belmont Stakes.

2020 Belmont Stakes Is Unique

Like most things in 2020, this year’s Belmont Stakes will be a bit different. Not only will there be no spectators in attendance (which means no in-person window bets), the length of the race has been shortened. Typically, the Belmont Stakes is a 1 1/2 mile race but has been reduced to 1 1/8 miles due to training alternations made in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As such, there’s one more wrinkle to the 2020 Belmont Stakes. Instead of serving as the third and final leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown, Saturday’s race will serve as the first. The Kentucky Derby has been rescheduled for September 5, while the Preakness will run on October 3.

Belmont Stakes Odds

Since we’re looking at Belmont betting, let’s take a look at the current odds. Tiz The Law leads the field (6-5), while Sole Volante (9-2) hopes to ride the momentum of a win in Florida only 10 days ago into New York.

One quick word on betting favorites at the Belmont Stakes–recent history has not been kind to the top ponies. Only three favorites have emerged victorious over the last 15 outings. However, it’s worth noting that favorites have performed well over recent years during the first leg of the Triple Crown. The favorite won the Kentucky Derby six straight years before Country House stunned the racing world at 65-1 odds in 2019.

Beyond the two favorites, keep an eye on a pair of horses trained by Todd Pletcher in Farmington Road and Dr. Post.

Pletcher has three career victories at the Belmont Stakes (his last coming in 2017), which is the most of any trainer in this year’s field.
