Let’s get it back to the Eagles.

Brian “Baldy” Baldinger got the Birds’ community all riled up this weekend when he tweeted the following:

Jadeveon Clowney? Jamal Adams? Devonta Freeman? Yannick Ngakoue? Raheem Mostert? Larry Warford? Joe Thuney? Jason Peters? SHADY MCCOY?

Thing is, the Birds aren’t exactly in a positive to blow cap space right now. They’re good for the time being, but projected around $50 million OVER for next year. That’s when Carson Wentz’s number takes a big jump, and we don’t know how COVID-19 is going to affect the cap. There’s not a lot of wiggle room in a department that appears to be uncertain right now.

However, if Clowney isn’t getting any other bites, and he wants to play for a winner, would he sign a one-year deal with the Birds to join a defensive line that includes Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, and Javon Hargrave? Talk about nasty. It’s not out of the realm of possibility, since other players have come here on “prove it” deals in recent years.

Adams and/or Ngakoue would be exciting, but would require the forfeiture of assets in a high-profile trade. Mostert would come here to… back up Miles Sanders? Split carries? Not sure about that. One of the offensive guards would replace the injured Brandon Brooks unless you think Matt Pryor can do the job, and none of those other fringe free agent moves would excite anybody, not to the point that Baldinger thinks the Birds could get “a lot better.”

Baldy needs to spill the beans.

We’re waiting, as Judge Smails once said.
