Dan Baker To Miss First Phillies Home Opener In 49 Years
There will be much that is different when the Phillies open their season tonight against the Marlins at Citizens Bank Park. From cardboard cutouts to empty blue seats, the reasons have been well-documented.
Unfortunately, there will be one more unexpected change this evening. Phillies public address announcer Dan Baker will miss the game.
Sorry, @Phillies fans, for the unfortunate timing, but due to a necessary surgery today, after announcing 48 straight home openers, I will miss tonight’s game. Hopefully this procedure will allow me to return to Citizens Bank Park quickly. GO PHILLIES!

No word yet on the exact nature of Baker’s surgery, but here’s hoping he is O.K. and back behind the mic soon.
There’s nothing better than a Dan Baker intro booming throughout the ballpark over The Sound of Philadelphia, even without fans in the stands.
