It’s a tradition unlike any other – getting bent out of shape over a list that really doesn’t mean anything.

This year Carson Wentz was completely snubbed from the NFL Network’s preseason top-100 players, an arbitrary ranking put together via player voting. Most guys do not take it seriously, which is evidenced by the fact that Dak Prescott and Jimmy Garappolo finished in the top 50.

Here are the five Eagles who made the cut:

  • 98 – Brandon Brooks (unranked last year)
  • 94 – Jason Kelce (number 72 last year)
  • 92 – Darius Slay (number 86 last year)
  • 85 – Zach Ertz (number 40 last year)
  • 73 – Fletcher Cox (number 28 last year)

Outrageous! I’m so mad.

But on a serious note, some of the non-Eagle placements are so ridiculous that you might not know whether to laugh or cry. Here are a few:

  • Kyler Murray – #90
  • Josh Allen – #87
  • Todd Gurley – #51 (had a down year and switched teams)
  • Dak Prescott – #46
  • Jimmy Garoppolo – #43 (!!!!)
  • Jadeveon Clowney – #41 (doesn’t even have a team right now)

Pretty bad, but here’s some confirmation from a former pro lineman that the players don’t put any time or effort into this:

Anyway, hopefully Carson Wentz uses this as MOTIVATION and comes out and throws for 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns this year. These lists don’t mean much to begin with, but to leave him out of the top 100 entirely is something else.

Go Birds.
