The only thing more disconcerting than dropping a home series to Miami is the fact that the Marlins are still here in Philadelphia, altering their travel plans after a handful of players tested positive for Coronavirus.

Jose Urena is one of the COVID-positive players, and he was scratched from Sunday’s start, which the Phillies benefited from initially before blowing a 4-0 lead. Jorge Alfaro, Garrett Cooper, and Harold Ramirez are the other three positive players, which was initially reported by MLB insider Robert Murray.

More from ESPN:

It’s possible that the infections occurred Wednesday on the team’s trip to and from Atlanta, where the Marlins played the Braves in an exhibition game. Since leaving Atlanta — after a flight delay — the Marlins have been in Philadelphia all weekend for the team’s opening series.

Manager Don Mattingly said the Marlins decided to wait until Monday to leave Philadelphia, and they plan to arrive in Miami hours before their home opener against Baltimore. The trip might be made while multiple players remain in Philadelphia.

“The guys that tested positive are quarantined here in Philly,” Mattingly said.

Phillies fans would want to know if those Marlins players could have transmitted the ‘Rona to any opposing players. Alfaro was placed on the injured list before Friday’s opener, so he was not on the field. Cooper and Ramirez played Friday and Saturday before they were both held out of Sunday’s game. Both got on base via a couple of hits and a walk, so they would have been in closer contact with Phils players.

Miami is set to begin a four-game series with the Orioles tonight, which remains ON. It has not been canceled or postponed. The Fish should be arriving in Florida a few hours before tonight’s game, which starts at 7:05.

Buckle up, because MLB is going to have a navigate a really tricky situation right out of the gate. The NBA and MLS bubbles are working, but baseball is continuing with cross-country travel, so we’re getting a very early stress test for this model.
