Looks like a Yannick Ngakoue trade, which seemed like a long shot anyway, won’t be happening.

Today the Birds agreed to a deal with veteran Vinny Curry, who was on the 2017 Super Bowl squad and played out a one-year-deal with the team just last season:

The Philadelphia Eagles are re-signing the defensive end, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per sources informed of the situation. Curry’s one-year deal is worth up to $2 million — $1.3M fully guaranteed with a chance to earn more with sack and playoff incentives.

Curry had a somewhat quiet beginning to his 2019 season, but finished incredibly strong, logging four sacks over the final five games. Two of those sacks came in the overtime win against the Giants and another came in the Dallas game, on the Cowboys’ failed final drive.

Move makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it? Curry is solid vet who doesn’t break the bank. 32 years old, so he’s got gas left in the tank. The Eagles now have a starting defensive line of Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, and Derek Barnett. Josh Sweat and Vinny Curry are your defensive end depth with Malik Jackson, Anthony Rush, and Hassan Ridgeway in the middle.

Pretty good.
