If early indications are to be believed, the Eagles might be headed for the Super Bowl. Jalen Reagor is so smooth, Jalen Hurts is throwing touchdown passes, and Darius Slay looks sharp in the Midnight Green.

Not sure about you, but we’ve really missed training camp tweets, the myriad live updates from NovaCare that are about 90% useless.

But in all seriousness, day one usually reveals solid depth chart information, and in a preseason cut short due to COVID-19, we can probably put a bit more stock into tidbits like this:

With Nickell Robey-Coleman in the slot and Jalen Mills playing strong safety, apparently. Rodney McLeod in his usual role. That looks like your early defensive backfield setup for the Eagles’ nickel package, which they spend most of their defensive time in. The question is which linebacker pair steps up to claim the starting gigs in an area where the Eagles are painfully young.

Woof.

Here’s your starting quarterback:

Man he looks great. Pro Bowl season perhaps?

And here’s the early injury report:

  • Jason Peters – day to day (lower body)
  • J.J. Arcega-Whiteside – day to day (lower body)
  • Derek Barnett – week to week (lower body)
  • Javon Hargrave – multiple weeks (upper body)
  • Duke Riley out – (illness)

That Hargave news doesn’t seem good. Hopefully we get something more on that soon. Doug Pederson said they’d manage Jason Peters reps during practice as he transitions from left tackle to right guard. Alshon Jeffery apparently is at practice but not participating.

Said Doug on that:

“Alshon is doing extremely well. Obviously there’s no timetable for him. We’re just making sure he’s 100% before we return him to action. But he’s doing extremely well and progressing nicely, where we want him to be at this particular time. He continues to progress in the right direction.”

And Pederson on Jason Peters:

“Jason being where he is in his career and obviously the age thing, we’re still going to manage him. We’re still going to take care of these guys. Listen, we can’t just give our starters a hundred percent of the reps. It’s unfathomable to do that. So we have a plan now for these guys. Jason is a part of that plan and we are going to make sure that he is ready to go obviously in a couple of weeks, but at the same time he understands, too, from us, that he has to get the reps necessary to be comfortable going into Washington.”

Here’s Doug’s full presser, which took place before before the session:
