NHL Condemns Mike Milbury’s “Insensitive and Insulting Comment”

Is grass green?
Is the sky blue?
Did Mike Millbury say something dumb?
Apparently he did, because the NHL issued a statement today condemning a remark he made during last night’s Islanders/Capitals game:
On the broadcast, Milbury is responding to a comment about the isolated nature of the hub city bubbles, when he says, “not even any woman here to disrupt your concentration.”
He issued his own apology, saying:
“I sincerely apologize for making the comment. It was not my intention to disrespect anyone. I was trying to be irreverent and took it a step too far. It was a regrettable mistake that I take seriously.”
Maybe this is finally it for Milbury. He’s been a jackass for a while, and doesn’t even seem to like his job. You could put Sleeping Beauty in the broadcast booth and get more energetic color commentary out of her.
