There’s nothing like opening Eagles training camp and seeing 50% of your starting defensive line on the injury report.

That’s free agent Javon Hargrave and first round draft pick Derek Barnett, who are currently shelved as of 8/18, with the home opener against the Washington Football Team scheduled for 9/13, which is 26 days away.

The good news, it would seem, is that Ian Rapoport is rapoporting that both have a shot at being ready for the opener:

The best case scenario is that both play (no duh), so it’s Barnett/Fletcher Cox/Hargrave/Brandon Graham starting on the d-line. The worst case scenario is that neither plays, which means Malik Jackson and Vinny Curry step up to the plate, which is… really not bad, if we’re being honest. The Eagles have always valued the defensive line, and the depth is going to be invaluable right out of the gates here. Depending on the injuries, it might also provide a big opportunity for Josh Sweat and Genard Avery.

Eagles camp continues today, and I’m sure we’ll get some excellent tweets from the on-site scribes.
