On Saturday morning, Anthony SanFilippo wrote a really well thought-out post in which he ranked all 16 Game 7s in Flyers history. Number 17 in team history will assuredly be added to that list firmly at the bottom.

The Flyers were shut out 4-0 in Game 7, a game in which they had about 11 total minutes of solid play with any sustained pressure. Our audience on The Press Row Show wasn’t pleased with the perceived lack of effort and lack of energy throughout, with an eight minute stretch to start the game and a three minute stretch near the end of the second period as the only portions of the game deserving of any praise.

The fanbase as a whole had a wide range of emotions seeping through their keyboards:

Barry Trotz is a Class Act

We’ll have full coverage of what went wrong for the Flyers on Sunday, but in the meantime, try to find solace in the fact that a team that was picked by many to be a fringe playoff team at best was one win away from a conference final. It was a fun season to cover and credit needs to be given to the NHL and NHLPA for putting together a plan that allowed the Hub City model to bring hockey back to their fans around the world in the safest possible way. There’s real reason to believe this team’s window is just opening and the Orange & Black will have a chance to contend in a meaningful way deep into the 2021 postseason.
