We’ve got – Tuesday night football action yo!

That’s what Jose from Norristown would say.

And it’s not a MAC showdown between the Central Michigan Chippewas and Kent State Golden Flashes. This is the undefeated Buffalo Bills traveling to Nashville to battle the undefeated Tennessee Titans, who were cleared to play tonight after getting their COVID-19 situation under control.

From ESPN:

Tuesday night’s game between the Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans will proceed as scheduled after all of the Titans’ coronavirus tests from Monday came back negative, a source told ESPN’s Dan Graziano.

It marked the second straight day that the Titans had no new positive COVID-19 tests.

Tennessee was clean on Friday and Saturday, then a staff member tested positive on Sunday, which resulted in another temporary closure of the team facility. They later held a walk-through after given NFL approval.

This will be the NFL’s first Tuesday night game since 2010, when the Eagles lost 24 to 14 to the Minnesota Vikings at Lincoln Financial Field. That was after a huge winter storm moved through the region, forcing the postponement of the originally scheduled Sunday game, much to the dismay of Ed Rendell, who thought it was a pussy move.

Said Rendell:

“We’ve become a nation of wusses. The Chinese are kicking our butt in everything,” he added. “If this was in China do you think the Chinese would have called off the game? People would have been marching down to the stadium, they would have walked and they would have been doing calculus on the way down.”

The Eagles had just won six of seven to clinch the NFC East while the Vikings had a losing record and not much to play for.

But you probably remember less about the delay and more about Joe Webb’s performance. Fucking Joe Webb.

Brett Favre’s backup, starting his first game ever, threw for 195 yards and ran for a score while Michael Vick lost a pair of fumbles and threw an interception in the loss, leading to DeSean Jackson and Jason Peters being credited for tackles in the box score. The Eagles touchdowns were scored by Vick and Clay Harbor. It was a lousy performance and lousy of couple days in Philadelphia.

Prior to the 2010 game, the NFL hadn’t played on Tuesday night since 1946, when the Boston Braves hosted the New York Giants after a planned Monday game was washed out due to a rainstorm.
