I feel like Reuben Frank was born for this moment. For the Travis Fulgham moment, because he’s the master at digging up statistics that result in something like a thousand Twitter likes and 300 replies.

Stats like this one:

Great stat, and seriously, Fulgham is so good.

He’s reliable. He’s a great route runner. He goes up and attacks the ball (unlike Agholor). If it wasn’t for the injuries to Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson, the Eagles may not have stumbled into their receiver of the future, which sounds crazy, but it’s not. We’ve moved beyond flash in the pan status and can safely declare that Fulgham is the real deal. This is not a Dom Brown situation, God willing.

Here are 10 more stats that help tell the story:

  1. 15 yards per catch is more than Robby Anderson, Terry McLaurin, Odell Beckham Jr., and Stefon Diggs.
  2. He’s got more touchdowns than DeAndre Hopkins, Keenan Allen, Allen Robinson, and Corey Davis.
  3. 87 yards per game is sixth in the league.
  4. 21 first downs on 29 receptions means that 72.4% of his grabs are moving the chains.
  5. 24.3% of his yardage is after the catch (105). He’s more than just a bigger body and can do some things with the ball in his hands, like the stiff-arm we saw Sunday night.
  6. He’s catching about 66% of his targets right now. That’s a pretty average number, but better than Tyreek Hill, DK Metcalf, D.J. Moore, and some typically-reliable tight ends.
  7. According to NFL NextGen stats, he’s getting 2.5 yards of separation per target, which is not a lot. That’s close to Jeffery and Mike Evans territory, those tight window jump ball and contested catch type of looks.
  8. His YAC per catch is 3.3, but projections only have him picking up 2.2 on average, so he’s overachieving in that department based on data models.
  9. The Eagles’ leading receiver last year was Jeffery, who had 490 yards. Fulgham is probably going to crest that number in six games, while Alshon needed 10 to hit that mark.
  10. 5.8 receptions per game is pretty high. That’s 19th in the league, just below Cooper Kupp (6.0) and just above JuJu Smith-Schuster (5.6).

He’s been a revelation, Travis Fulgham. It’s not just a cute little run here; he’s putting up numbers that match or best some of the league’s best receivers. It’s like a football lighthouse, shining positivity into the fog and gloom of another mediocre season.
