Daniel Jeremiah.

Former NFL Scout. NFL Network Analyst. He’s pretty solid, but if the Eagles do anything resembling what he’s laid out in his mock draft 1.0, then Howie Roseman should be fired on the spot.

This is what he’s got for picks #6 and #7 in April:

#6 Philadelphia Eagles – Patrick Surtain · CB

School: Alabama | Year: Junior

The Eagles need another wideout, but they’re also desperate for help in the secondary. Surtain would team up with Darius Slay to give Philadelphia’s new staff an outstanding cornerback duo.

….

#7 Detroit Lions – DeVonta Smith · WR

School: Alabama | Year: Senior

If the Lions are going to keep Matthew Stafford, they would have a prime opportunity to sell this selection to a QB-needy team. If they stick and pick, Smith will be an immediate-impact player on the outside.

No.

No no no no no no, and look, Patrick Surtain is a stud. He is a great corner, and the Eagles need a corner. That is absolutely a position of need.

But could you imagine if the Heisman Trophy-winning receiver was on the board and the Birds passed on him? For a corner? Howie Roseman would never hear the end of it. Sports radio would explode into a champagne supernova in the sky.

For what it’s worth, Jeremiah has Ja’Marr Chase going off the board at #3 overall, to the Dolphins. The consensus is that they’ll probably take a receiver, so we’re thinking that one of Smith or Chase will be there for the Eagles at #6.

Thank God they decided to tank and lose the Giants game, or else they might not have a shot at either one of those receivers.

(Also, the guy to pay attention to for Eagles draft news is Lance Zierlein. He was all over the Jalen Reagor selection.)
