Rephrasing:

He meant to say “process” instead of prospect. Used the same word twice, but you get what he’s saying.

This was the original tweet, which was deleted:

“The #Eagles tried to trade up to No. 3, but they would only do it for Zach Wilson, source said. Instead, they back out, get an extra 1st rounder, and continue to build.”

They could always move back up. Of course. Don’t rule anything out.

But if we just go along with the assumption that they’re punting 2021 and giving Jalen Hurts a chance to prove himself as a starter, then no, adding another first round pick is not a terrible idea, in a vacuum.

I know people then love to respond with something like this:

“yeah well, the picks don’t mean anything if Howie is making the selections!”

And I get it. Howie stinks at drafting. You don’t trust him in a draft and I don’t either.

But what else are we doing to do? Stay at #6 so he has less of a chance to screw it up? That would require admission on his part that he sucks at drafting and needs to shrink the window to ensure that he doesn’t swing and miss.

Because in the previously mentioned vacuum, picking up an extra first rounder and still giving yourself a shot at Jaylen Waddle or Micah Parsons would be considered a smart move for any rebuilding team. People just poo-poo the move because the GM sucks, but he’s not going anywhere, so I don’t know what people expect. They are going to continue to try to add picks and restock and we’re stuck with Howie, whether we like it or not. The best we can do is hope he turns his track record around in 2021 and 2022.
