On Wednesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers will play host to the Utah Jazz. The Sixers enter play at 23-12, which is the best record in the Eastern Conference. The Jazz are 27-8, the only single-digit-loss team remaining in the NBA and a full 3.5 games up on Phoenix for the top seed in the West.

Let’s get into our Sixers-Jazz betting preview, including odds, boosts, and picks.

Sixers vs. Jazz Betting Pick (March 3, 2021)

The Philadelphia 76ers suffered a disappointing 112-109 loss in overtime on Saturday to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Sixers rebounded in a big way on Monday, blowing out the Indiana Pacers 130-114, despite the absence of the team’s second-leading scorer Tobias Harris. Joel Embiid put together a double double with 24 points and 13 rebounds in just 27 minutes of play, while point guard Ben Simmons dropped 18 points and pulled down six rebounds of his own. The standout star for Philadelphia in that game, however, was bench guard Shake Milton, who exploded for 26 points. Milton is going to be called upon quite a bit throughout the remainder of the season if the Sixers are to hold onto the top seed in the East.

The Utah Jazz are coming off a 129-124 road loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, their second loss in three games. In that game, Bojan Bogdanović dropped a team-high 31 points, while Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, and Jordan Clarkson all contributed at least 20 points each. Utah has benefitted immensely from a well-balanced scoring attack with Mitchell (22.4 PPG), Clarkson (18.2 PPG), Mike Conley (16.0 PPG), Bogdanovic (15.7 PPG), Gobert (14.2 PPG), and Joe Ingles (11.4 PPG) all averaging double-figure points per game. They’ll look to right the ship against a 76ers squad that could once again be without Tobias Harris.

Bets We Like With a Sixers Win

FiveThirtyEight gives the Sixers a 49% chance of winning with a +0.5 point line. Philadelphia’s implied win probability based on the moneyline is much lower at just 42%.

Sixers to Win (+180, BetMGM)

To be clear, we’d advise against taking the Sixers in this one. However, if you’re feeling a win for the home team, skip the frills of a same-game parlay and get the Sixers to win at +180 odds thanks to a Lion’s Boost from BetMGM.

The Sixers are a magnificent 30-3 in their last 33 games played at the Wells Fargo Center and are 5-1 in their last six games played at home. The uncertain nature of Tobias Harris’ status for the home team is a big reason for caution, but getting the Sixers at boosted +180 odds could be worth a look if he’s able to play.

Bets We Like With a Jazz Win

Jazz to Cover (-3.5) and Over 229 Total Points (+210, DraftKings)

There are a number of reasons to consider taking the Utah Jazz in this game, one in which they’ve been installed as a road favorite by both the oddsmakers and projection models alike.

The Jazz are 15-1 in their last 16 games against the Eastern Conference, including a 134-123 win at home over Philadelphia on February 15.

Although the Jazz are coming off a loss and have dropped two out of their last three games, they’re 12-3 in their last 15 contests overall. Utah has won each of those twelve games by an average margin of 16.3 points per game, including an eleven-point triumph over the Sixers. When Utah wins, they win big. The smallest margin of victory in their last twelve victories came in an eight-point win against the Indiana Pacers. In fact, Utah has covered the spread in six of their past seven games against teams with a winning record.

As for the total points line, look no further than a Sixers trend against teams from Utah’s division. The total points have gone over the threshold in six of Philadelphia’s last seven games against teams from the Northwest Division. Utah has seen the over hit in four of their last five games, while Philadelphia has seen the same in back-to-back contests.

If you’re looking for additional value beyond the Jazz moneyline or a Jazz moneyline and over 229 total points parlay, get them to cover a -3.5 point spread and over 229 points with DraftKings Sportsbook.

Rudy Gobert to Record a Double Double (-213, FOX Bet)

Rudy Gobert is averaging 13.2 rebounds per game on the season, the third-highest mark in the NBA this season. Factoring in his 14.2 points per game, the man is a walking double-double machine. In fact, Gobert has recorded a double-double in 10 of his last 14 games and three of his last five overall. He missed a double-double by one rebound in the Jazz’ 129-124 loss to the Pelicans, but had accomplished the feat in three of his previous four games.

One would assume that MVP candidate would pose a real test for Gobert, and that’s true to some extent. When the teams matched up in February, Gobert was held to 11 points on 3-3 shooting from the field and nine rebounds. However, in two games against Philadelphia a season ago, Gobert put up performances of 27 points and 12 rebounds on December 2, 2019, and 14 points and 16 rebounds on November 16, 2019.

While this isn’t a market with a huge multiplier, it’s solid value for a likely hit.
