On Monday night, the Philadelphia 76ers will play host to the Indiana Pacers. The Sixers remained the top seed in the Eastern Conference at 22-12 despite dropping a 112-109 overtime result to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday. The Pacers are 15-17 on the season and are just a half game behind the Charlotte Hornets for the eighth and final playoff seed in the East.

Let’s get into our Sixers-Pacers betting preview, including odds, boosts, and picks.

Sixers vs. Pacers Betting Pick (March 1, 2021)

The Philadelphia 76ers suffered a disappointing 112-109 overtime loss at home to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. Philadelphia had a chance to win at the end of regulation, but dialed up a Joel Embiid ISO play on Jarrett Allen that began at the top of the arc and ended with a baseline fadeaway contested by two Cavaliers.

The Sixers are still arguably the best team in the Eastern Conference, but they remain just a half game up on the Brooklyn Nets and a single game up on the Milwaukee Bucks. With Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris listed as questionable as of Monday morning, this game could end up being a much tighter affair than Doc Rivers’ squad would like.

The Indiana Pacers enter tonight’s contest on a three-game losing streak and have dropped four of their last five games overall. Like the Sixers, Indiana lost their Saturday contest by just three points 110-107 to the New York Knicks. Former Sixer TJ McConnell played a team-high 46 minutes in that one, contributing 17 points, 12 assists, and six rebounds.

For as close as the top of the Eastern Conference has been, the bottom end of the playoff race has been even closer, with the fourth-seed Knicks sitting just 1.5 games clear of the 10th-seed Chicago Bulls. It’s going to be critical for Indiana to avoid a fourth-consecutive loss.

Unfortunately for Indiana, both Malcolm Brogdon and Jeremy Lamb are both listed as questionable ahead of tonight’s contest.

Sixers vs. Pacers Odds

    • Spread: Sixers -4.5, Pacers +4.5
    • Moneyline: Sixers -180, Pacers +148
    • Total: 223.5

And here are the current best available odds for the Sixers (may not display on Google AMP pages):

Bets We Like With a Sixers Win

FiveThirtyEight gives the Sixers a 73% chance of winning with a -6 point line. Philadelphia’s implied win probability based on the moneyline is 63%.

Sixers to Win and Under 223.5 Total Points (+195, DraftKings)

On the surface, this could appear to be a somewhat questionable bet based on the total points going under. After all, the first meeting between these teams went in Philadelphia’s favor 119-110 (229 total points). However, there’s reason to believe this game could go under 223.5 points.

For starters -pun very much intended- Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Malcolm Brogdon, and Jeremy Lamb are all listed as questionable. Any combination of those players missing this game could send the total points line plummeting.

While the over has hit in two of Indiana’s last three games, it’s worth noting that only one of those games saw the total go over 223.5 points. The Sixers, meanwhile, have seen the total points go under 223.5 points in each of their last five games.

As for the result, Philadelphia is a deeper, more talented team playing at home. The Sixers are an astounding 29-3 in their last 32 games played at the Wells Fargo Center. If you’re looking for value in addition the the Sixers moneyline, consider parlaying it with Under 223.5 points.

Sixers to Win and Each Team to Score Over 99.5 Points (-125, FOX Bet)

We’ve already outlined why the Sixers are likely going to win this game, so let’s take a look at the second half of this special market. The Sixers have reached the 100-point mark in every game since December 27th and 33 of their 34 games on the season.

The Pacers have done so in each of their last seven games and in 29 of their 32 games overall. While this isn’t a bet with a wild multiplier, it’s a sound bet. If for some reason you’re feeling extra frisky, you could take the Sixers and Pacers to each score over 119.5 points and the Sixers to win at +600 odds with FOX Bet.

Bets We Like With a Pacers Win

Ben Simmons to Record a Double Double (-110, BetMGM)

The folks at BetMGM have boosted the odds on Ben Simmons recording a double double from -154 odds to -110 odds, which is a bet worth looking at for a number of reasons. As of Monday morning, both Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris are listed as questionable for tonight’s game. If either or both were to miss this one, the sky would be the limit for Simmons’ stat line, especially for scoring and rebounding.

Although Simmons did not record a double double in the teams’ first matchup earlier this season, finishing with 21 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds. However, Simmons consistently flirted with double doubles and triple doubles throughout the month of February, often falling a single rebound or assist short of doing so.

Simmons crushed the Pacers a season ago, recording four double doubles:

  • 11/30/19: 15 points, 13 assists, 6 rebounds
  • 12/31/19: 18 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists
  • 1/13/20: 24 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists
  • 8/1/20: 19 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists

If you’re looking for a sound bet worth throwing down some money on, this could be it.

Sixers vs. Pacers Prediction

Pick: A lot could change between Monday morning and gametime, with Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Malcolm Brogdon, and Jeremy Lamb all listed as questionable as of this writing. If either or both of Embiid and Harris plays, take the Sixers to Win and Each Team to Score Over 99.5 Points. If Embiid and Harris are both out and Brogdon is set to play, pivot to the Pacers to Win and Each Team to Score Over 99.5 points.
