Sunday night marked a special night for the NHL and the Philadelphia Flyers organization as teams league-wide celebrated Hockey Fights Cancer Night. It bore even more significance for the Flyers as Oskar Lindblom’s public battle against the Ewing Sarcoma has inspired millions. With his most recent scans a few weeks ago coming back clean, Sunday night served as an even bigger celebration of his accomplishment and served as a true beacon of hope for those battling cancer.

Before their game against the New York Islanders even began, the Flyers paid a special tribute to their teammate as they themselves came out of the tunnel wearing purple Hockey Fights Cancer sweaters bearing Lindblom’s name and the number 23:

It was a great gesture and one that the Flyers organization should be proud of.
