If historians were to go through the RADIO WARS annals, they would find that Crossing Broad has rarely been the aggressor. Oftentimes we are Switzerland, a neutral party only observing and documenting affairs from afar. Sometimes that results in calling bullshit where necessary, like Ed Hochuli throwing a pass interference flag.

It’s a fair and balanced approach, with coverage you can count on.

The belligerents have traditionally been one or more members of 97.5 the Fanatic and 94 WIP, highlighted most famously by Josh Innes and Tony Bruno vs. Mike Missanelli, which was the Antietam of our time. Other famous battles include Andy Bloom vs. The Maestro and a skirmish between Mike and Jimmy Kempski over the purpose of the bathroom attendant.

Each battle is an interesting case study, and worth revisiting at some point in the future, since those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Perhaps someday hobbyists will dress up like Josh and Mike and head up to Washington’s Crossing or Valley Forge for a historical re-enactment.

Meantime, could a new conflict be on the horizon? We highlighted a disagreement between Mikey Miss and John Kincade in a Tuesday post titled, “RADIO WARS: Odubel Herrera, “Selective Fan Morality,” and the Blatant Rejection of Facts.” Mike, of course, read it and responded this way to open his show:

“The people have tried to make this a fight between me and John Kincade. I disagree 100% with his position to be permissive of this. So, that’s not gonna change. If you want to create some kind of war, that’s fine by me, because I’m good at war.”

Now the interesting thing here is that tomorrow, Thursday, 97.5 the Fanatic is doing one of their crossover days, where hosts from various time slots make appearances on the other shows. This has always been one of the best things they do. It’s good radio.

Kincade mentioned earlier this week that Mike was scheduled to appear on his show, so we’ll see if the Odubel topic comes up. Perhaps Kincade goes on Mike’s show, and the subject is broached with Natalie and Tyrone flanking Mike, like the Roman Centurions with the big shields. The focus is supposed to be on the NFL Draft, but knowing that these two are on polar opposites of the Herrera spectrum, it’s curious to consider whether one of them will bite, and raise the domestic violence topic.

Are we standing on the precipice? Mike says he’s good at war, but does he want war? And with whom? With Kincade? With us? With callers who would dare to offer a differing viewpoint?

Crossing Broad has installations in Basel and Zurich. We will track and record all actions deemed escalatory.
