On Thursday night, the Philadelphia 76ers are on the road taking on the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Sixers enter play at 32-15, just a half game behind the Brooklyn Nets for the best record in the Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers find themselves in thirteenth place in the Eastern Conference at 17-30 this season.

Let’s get into our Sixers-Cavaliers betting preview, including odds, boosts, and picks.

Sixers vs. Cavaliers Betting Pick (April 1, 2021)

It’s been nearly three weeks since Philadelphia’s franchise center Joel Embiid landed awkwardly following a dunk against the Washington Wizards. Embiid was eventually diagnosed with a bone bruise in his knee, which meant the Sixers would be without the MVP frontrunner for at least a couple of weeks. They started out on an absolute tear in his absence, going 6-1 in their first seven games following his injury. Unfortunately for the Sixers, they’ve dropped their last two games after starting out 3-0 on a six-game road trip. A 122-112 loss to the Clippers followed by a 104-95 defeat at the hands of the Denver Nuggets took away a bit of the momentum Philadelphia had been building.

The 76ers are set to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight as a two-game home set awaits them in the City of Brotherly Love a few days away. However, it would be a mistake if the Sixers were to look past the same Cavaliers team that’s walked away with the victory in both contests played between the teams this season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are in the midst of a three-game losing streak that includes a 100-86 loss to the Lakers, a two-point loss to the Sacramento Kings, and most recently a horrific 114-75 blowout at the hands of the Utah Jazz. In that game, the backcourt duo of Darius Garland and Collin Sexton combined for 38 points, more than half of their team’s offensive output. No other Cav managed to break double digits.

Can the Sixers get back to their winning ways or will the Cavs earn their third win in as many tries against Philadelphia this season?

Bets We Like With a Sixers Win

FiveThirtyEight gives the Sixers a 79% chance of winning with a -8.5 point line. The oddsmakers agree, with the Sixers’ implied win probability based on the moneyline at 80%.

Sixers Win and Under 211.5 Points (+128, DraftKings Sportsbook)

The Philadelphia 76ers have performed admirably over the past three weeks without their franchise big man Joel Embiid. There’s belief he could rejoin the lineup in the next week, which would obviously give his team quite a boost. Although the Sixers are coming off consecutive road losses, the quality of their opponents in those matchups was far superior to that of the Cavs squad they’ll be taking on tonight. Cleveland has lost three straight games and even though they’ve won the first two matchups between the teams this season, the fact that the oddsmakers and projection model have installed the Sixers as a nearly double-digit point favorite should not be ignored.

The Sixers are an exceptional 28-7 this season when they’ve been installed as the favorite. Meanwhile, Cleveland has gone 15-28 this season in games in which the oddsmakers have installed them as the underdog.

As for the under, it’s worth noting that these teams have seen the under hit quite a bit in the past week or so. In fact, each of Cleveland’s last four games have gone under, all of which also saw the total go under 211.5 points. The Sixers, meanwhile, have seen the total go under in four of their last five games, with all four of those games going under 211.5 points.

Sixers Win and Each Team to Score Over 99.5 Points (+110, FOX Bet)

Given the heavy favorite status the Sixers have entering tonight’s game, a same-game parlay could be worth a look and there’s reason to believe both teams could clear the 99.5 point threshold. Prior to Philadelphia’s 104-95 loss, the Sixers had scored at least 100 points in six straight games, including four straight on the road.

Cleveland has failed to hit the 100 point mark in three straight games, but all three of those performances came on the road. The Cavs put up points at home, however, and have put up at least 100 points in nine straight games at home.

While the first matchup between these teams saw the Cavs prevail 118-94, the Sixers got their scoring act together in the second game in a 112-109 loss. If you’re looking for a relatively safe same-game parlay to help get a better payout than a Sixers moneyline bet alone, this one is worth it.

Bets We Like Independent of Outcome

Cavaliers to Cover (+9.5) and Under 211.5 Points (+260, DraftKings Sportsbook)

The Cleveland Cavaliers are coming off their worst loss of the season, but there’s reason to believe they could cover the spread as a 9.5 point underdog. On the Sixers’ end, the first three games they won on this road trip came by 1 point against the Knicks, 10 points against the Warriors, and 8 points against the Lakers. Considering that they were on the losing end in each of the first two matchups with Cleveland this season, it seems hard to envision a scenario where the Sixers trounce the opposition on the Cavs’ home court.

As for the under, the total points line has moved around a bit on game day, but the rise to 211.5 points makes taking the under far more palatable.
