On Tuesday night, the Brooklyn Nets will play host to the Boston Celtics for Game 2 of their first round playoff series at the Barclays Center.

Let’s take a closer look at the top Celtics vs. Nets Game 2 player prop picks and make some predictions for this May 25, 2021 NBA Playoffs matchup.

Celtics vs. Nets Player Props (May 25, 2021)

The Brooklyn Nets are set to take on the Boston Celtics in what could amount to a must-win for the team from Beantown. The Nets’ dynamic trio of Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving were utterly dominant in a 104-93 victory in Game 1. Durant dropped 32 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, while Irving posted 29 and 6 of his own. In-season acquisition James Harden put up 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists in the contest. With 82 of 104 points coming from their big three, only Joe Harris was able to crack double digits in scoring.

The Boston Celtics had a solid first half in Game 1, entering halftime with a 53-47 lead. The Nets, however, ramped up their effort in the second half, outscoring Boston 31-20 in the third quarter and 26-20 in the fourth. Jayson Tatum led all Celtics with 22 points, while Marcus Smart (17), Kemba Walker (15), Robert Williams (11), and Evan Fournier (10) all scored at least ten points.

Will the Nets take a decisive 2-0 series lead or will the Celtics pull off an upset and flip homecourt advantage?

Kemba Walker to Score 20+ Points (-250, FanDuel Sportsbook)

Celtics point guard Kemba Walker has found himself in an interesting position. After signing a 4-year, $141m max deal with Boston in 2019, the presumption was that Walker would fill the shoes vacated by Kyrie Irving, taking up the mantle as the primary option on offense while Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown grew into their roles with the hope they’d eventually overtake Walker as the team’s superstars. Injuries, however, have played a part in disrupting stretches of Walker’s tenure with the C’s, either costing him games outright, or slowing him down from being the dynamic guard Charlotte loved for years. However, Walker has been called upon to pick up the slack, since Brown was lost for the season following surgery to repair a torn ligament in his wrist.

Going back to April 17, Walker dropped at least 20 points in six of seven contests, though he missed six games during that stretch, as well as the team’s final three games of the regular season. He showed a bit of rust in Game 1, shooting just 5-16 from the field for 15 points. However, we expect him to bounce back in a big way on Tuesday night, as Boston will need him to support Tatum if they’re to have any chance. of winning.

Kevin Durant to Score Over 27.5 Points (-115, BetMGM)

For teams to succeed in the postseason, they need their biggest players to play up to their highest level. That’s exactly what Kevin Durant does. After failing to score 28+ points in his final four regular season games, Durant exploded for 32 points on 10-25 shooting from the field and just 1-8 from downtown. He made up for his struggles from the field by shooting 11-12 from the free throw line, contributing nearly a third of his points from the charity stripe.

Durant’s Game 1 performance marked the ninth time in his last 11 postseason games in which he racked up at least 29 points. Although it’s likely that James Harden and Kyrie Irving could take away some of the scoring share, it’s worth noting that if Game 2 plays out anything like Game 1, Durant should be able to get at least 28 of the 82 points the trio posts.

James Harden to Make Over 1.5 Three-Pointers (-200, DraftKings Sportsbook)

This market should be a solid one, even if the potential payout isn’t a whopping one. James Harden has made a career of firing from deep and slicing into the paint to draw fouls. He’s done an admirable job of changing up his game, playing more of a facilitator role since being acquired from the Houston Rockets. That’s not to say he’s incapable of going off for a crooked number, but when Kyrie Irving plays, Harden often takes a backseat to the incumbent guard.

Harden’s sporadic play down the stretch in the regular season saw him hit 3-4 attempts against the San Antonio Spurs and 1-3 against the Chicago Bulls, each effort coming in roughly 25 minutes of game action.

Looking back to before injuries derailed his season, Harden hit at least two three-point shots in 15 of 19 games, including a stretch of ten straight games from February 13-March 3.

Harden attempting eight shots from long range in Game 1 should be about the same in Game 2 and we expect him to match or surpass the two makes from beyond the arc.
