Mercifully, this Flyers season comes to an end tonight, at home, against the New Jersey Devils. That team sucks, but they beat our guys three times in a row just two weeks ago, so go figure.

There previously was no reason to go down to the Wells Fargo Center to watch that embarrassment on ice, but if you’ve got tickets to the finale and are looking for a silver lining, the Flyers will be offering COVID vaccinations to fans in attendance.

From NBC 10:

The Philadelphia Flyers are the latest to try innovative methods to encourage people to get coronavirus vaccines.

They’re teaming up with Penn Medicine to offer free Johnson & Johnson shots at the Wells Fargo Center during the team’s final game of the season Monday. As an added bonus, those who get vaccinated at the game will also get two free tickets for a game next season.

Vaccines will only be offered to fans who have tickets to Monday’s game, as well as Wells Fargo Center Employees. The vaccination site will be outside Section 104 in the Southwest Food Hall on the arena’s Main Concourse. Shots will be administered from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

People who get vaccinated will also receive an “I Took My Shot” t-shirt, hand sanitizer and sticker.

Now that seems like a good deal. You get the vaccine, you get two tickets for next season, you get a shirt, hand sanitizer, and a sticker.

That’s much better than what was previously being offered, which was jack shit. You would have just gone down there, watched the Flyers lose while wearing a mask over your face, and then got back in your car to drive home.

But on a serious note, good stuff from the Flyers and Penn here. Let’s get everybody vaccinated and we’ll get these stadiums full. The “mask mandate” will be a thing of the past and the re-energized local hockey team will get their act together and start ripping off wins left and right, en route to the Stanley Cup finals.
