On Wednesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers will play host to the Washington Wizards for Game 5 of their first round series in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Let’s take a closer look at the top Sixers vs. Wizards Game 5 player prop picks and make some predictions for this June 2, 2021 NBA Playoffs matchup.

Sixers vs. Wizards Game 5 Player Props (June 2, 2021)

This first round series between the Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Wizards shifts back to the City of Brotherly Love for a potentially-decisive Game 5. Monday night’s contest between these teams saw MVP finalist Joel Embiid leave following a scary fall after an attempted dunk. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported today that Embiid suffered a small meniscus tear and will miss Wednesday night’s contest. If Washington had hoped for something to break their way, this could be their opportunity to cut the series lead to 3-2.

Philadelphia likely felt like they let Game 4 get away from them, getting outscored 32-19 in a dreadful third quarter. Although the Sixers outscored the Wizards 34-30 in the fourth quarter, Ben Simmons’ free throw issues (5-11) and Tobias Harris’ woeful night from the field (8-24) were major postgame talking points.

The Wizards had a well-balanced scoring attack on Monday night with all five of their starters, as well as Robin Lopez and Raul Neto scoring in double figures. The only notable name on the injury report for Washington ahead of Game 5 is Davis Bertans, who is listed as out with a calf strain.

Will Washington pull to within a game, sending the series back to the nation’s capital, or will Philadelphia seal the deal at home?

Tobias Harris to Score 25+ Points (-154, FanDuel Sportsbook)

All eyes will turn to Sixers forward Tobias Harris on Wednesday night following the news that MVP finalist Joel Embiid will miss Game 5 with a torn meniscus. Harris was Philadelphia’s second-leading scorer at 19.5 points per game and has been his team’s top scorer in the postseason, averaging 24.3 points per game.

In a way, Embiid’s injury history has provided opportunities for the Sixers to game plan life without their franchise cornerstone, though it’s been a mixed bag for Harris. In his three most recent games without Embiid, Harris put up 21, 9, and 27 points. The nine point effort could be discarded as it came in just 25:52 of game action in a 38-point blowout loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

It’s worth noting that when Embiid missed ten games earlier this season with a bone bruise in his knee, Harris averaged 21.6 points per game. Over that ten game stretch, Harris put up 25+ points four times. While it’s unlikely he’ll match the 37-point performance he put together in Game 1, it stands to reason he’ll get plenty of looks from the field, shooting better than the 8-24 (33.3%) he posted in Game 4.

Rui Hachimura to Make Over 1.5 Three-Pointers (+160, BetMGM)

There are a number of player markets based around the Wizards’ starting backcourt of Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook, but one of the most interesting Washington player props is that of Rui Hachimura to make over 1.5 three-point field goals. Given the absence of Sixers big man Joel Embiid, at least one Wizards big man should have a standout performance as Philadelphia’s backups Dwight Howard and Mike Scott have plenty of deficiencies in their respective games.

Hachimura is coming off a 3-6 performance from downtown in Game 4 in 41:32 of action. He’s hit at least two three-pointers in three of the first four games of the series and in five of his last seven games, including two play-in games and the regular season finale against the Charlotte Hornets. Expect Hachimura to put up at least four shots from beyond the arc, hitting at least two.

Ben Simmons to Record Over 8.5 Rebounds (-127, DraftKings Sportsbook)

The absence of Joel Embiid will provide a number of rebounding opportunities for other Sixers players, including point guard Ben Simmons. Thus far this postseason, Simmons has averaged 10.3 rebounds per game, which is a virtual tie with Tobias Harris for the team lead.

The biggest thing Simmons has going for him in this “Over 8.5 Rebounds” market is his physical frame. He’s been a matchup nightmare for guards like Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal, though the former is an elite rebounder from the point guard position. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Simmons get a look at center in a small ball lineup surrounded by shooters. That could be advantageous as he’s a matchup nightmare for slower-footed, less athletic centers.

Simmons is coming off his best rebounding performance in Game 4, pulling down 12 rebounds in just 24:31 of game action. He’s grabbed at least nine rebounds in three of four contests in this series and did so in one of two matchups against Washington in the regular season.
