At ESPN, Woj is saying that Scheyer is indeed going to take over after the 2021-2022 season.

Coach K is 74 years old and has been at Duke since 1980. He’s got five National Titles and more than 1,000 wins. Countless Duke players have gone on to play in the NBA and win rings. He won Olympic Gold with the U.S. men and if you name a basketball honor, he’s probably earned it. He’ll go down as one of the greatest to ever do it, if not the greatest. And it’s crazy that he and Roy Williams are both leaving their respective programs in North Carolina around the same time. Just a monumental shift in college hoops and the ACC.

It pains me to write all of that, because I can’t stand Duke. They’re always good, always annoying, and always getting a friggin’ first round tournament game at a “neutral” floor in Winston-Salem or Greensboro. They’ve given us Greg Paulus and JJ Redick and more aggravating Caucasian guards than Syracuse, if you can believe it. There’s always just been an aura of elitism and snootiness emanating from that program, wafting over Durham and then spreading across the country.

But anyway, Congrats to Coach K on one hell of a career. Maybe Duke goes on one more run with him next season and he can go out in style.
