Sam Cassell Reportedly Interviewed for Wizards Job
Sixers assistant Sam Cassell reportedly interviewed for the vacant Wizards gig:
The Wizards interviewed 76ers assistant coach Sam Cassell for their open head coaching position today, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA. Cassell was an assistant for the Wizards from 2009-2014.

If he gets the job, then former Sixers assistants will have jobs in Boston and Washington. Phoenix, too, where Monty Williams has the Suns on the verge of the Finals.
RE: credentials, Cassell is more than qualified for a head coaching gig. He’s a former All-Star and three-time NBA champion who played from 1993 to 2008. Then he served as Wizards assistant under Flip Saunders and Randy Wittman from 2009 to 2014. He joined up with Doc Rivers in Los Angeles seven years ago and then followed him to Philadelphia this past season, so that’s 15 years as a player and more than 10 as an assistant. He’s 51 years old and ready for a head coaching job.
It seemed like Cassell had a strong relationship with Ben Simmons here in Philadelphia. If he goes, it makes you wonder if anything changes in the Ben+coaching staff department. We’ll see.
