At last check, Cole Hamels had signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He was throwing a two-inning simulated game, suffered an injury setback, and was placed on the 60-day IL, ending his season.

But he’s not ready to hang ’em up yet, apparently:

Hamels turns 38 in December. He signed with the Braves in 2020, but only pitched three innings before losing the rest of his season to a shoulder injury. Atlanta had brought him in on a one-year, $18 million contract, and the Dodgers were on the hook for a mill.

Surely that’s gotta be it for Cole, yeah? He can’t stay healthy. He’s closer to 40 than 35. Would you want the Phils to offer Hamels a swan song, or has that ship sailed? Has the swan figuratively flown away? Do swans even fly?
