Ben Simmons... thinking three!

Howard Beck at Sports Illustrated doubles as co-host of The Crossover podcast and does NBA radio work.

He recently sat down with Sixers veteran Danny Green, and in this clip shared on Twitter, Green talks about Simmons as if he’s already gone. Like it’s a done deal:

Green:

“We don’t know what we’re going to get back for him. We may get a point guard; we may get wings. That may change a lot. I might be playing with a different type of point guard. I might be playing with different types of wings. I might be coming off the bench. I don’t know who we’re gonna get. Also defensively, I probably become the primary defender.”

Well then. Ben is as good as gone. I think we all knew this already, but whereas the smoke was signaling a minor fire, right now it seems as though someone poured gasoline on that mofo.

And then, just as I’m typing out that sentence, Keith drops this:

Pompey:

“Ben Simmons let it be known that he wants out.

In a meeting with the 76ers last week in Los Angeles, Simmons told team co-managing partner Josh Harris, president of basketball operations Daryl Morey, general manager Elton Brand and coach Doc Rivers that he no longer wants to remain a Sixer, according to multiple sources.”

Sources said the three-time All-Star also does not intend to report to training camp.

A team spokesman declined to comment.

Spicy. I like it. Should be no lack of material when camp begins. Time for Daryl Morey to find a trade partner and #DoTheDeal.
