The Eagles play a preseason game in two days, if you can believe it. Birds vs. Steelers on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. down at Lincoln Financial Field. I’m bringing the beers.

Ahead of game one, the public relations staff always puts together depth charts for their media guides, and while these are UNOFFICIAL, we like to take a look to see if we can learn anything.

Here’s the offensive chart:

No surprises here, though they still have Andre Dillard and Jordan Mailata listed together, even though myriad independent reports from NovaCare have Mailata way ahead of Dillard at this point in time.

The more interesting thing is that Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert are both listed similarly. Assuming Ertz is going to be here this season, he is quite clearly the #1 ahead of Goedert, unless the plan is to elevate Goedert’s snaps while looking for an Ertz trade. Just seems a little funky with the TE listing.

Here’s the defense:

Genard Avery, huh? They’ve got him written in as the starting SAM linebacker in a 4-3 base. And Derek Barnett and Josh Sweat are both listed together, with neither ahead of the other.

The only other thing here is K’Von Wallace listed as a starter since Rodney McLeod is not a full practice participant. Avonte Maddox goes down into the slot with Steven Nelson now in the fold.

Special teams:

Curious to see how they approach the punt and kick returning this year. Greg Ward is listed third as the punt returner and Boston Scott isn’t on the list at all. Jalen Reagor and Quez Watkins gives you some excitement back there, yeah? Need some excitement on special teams this season because it was a snoozefest last year.
