Eagles Release Last Year's Leading Receiver
Hitting the wire right now:
Sources to @caplannfl and @GeoffMosherNFL from @InsideBirds: #Eagles have waived WR Travis Fulgham.
Major fall from grace for Fulgham, last year's team leader in receiving yards.
Sounds like #Eagles going with 5 WRs.

What the hell happened here?
Fulgham had that stretch of games in 2020 where he looked like the second coming of Calvin Johnson. Megatron. Then he came out of the starting lineup, his snaps dwindled, and he was basically a non-factor down the stretch.
Earlier this training camp, he was asked why his minutes declined, and Fulgham said he thought it was because Alshon Jeffery had returned and claimed the #1 spot at his position. It was also suggested last year that he wasn’t really pushing himself in practice, and needed to work harder, like he wasn’t mentally locked in and ready to fight for his snaps. And then in camp this year, he reportedly showed some inconsistency, and now he finds himself on the outside and looking in.
The tricky thing here is that the Eagles could have used Fulgham’s skill set. He’s a bigger body guy with good hands. They’ve got smaller and speedier guys in DeVonta Smith, Quez Watkins, and Jalen Reagor, and it was assumed that Fulgham would be in the starting mix with those three. Now it’s looking like JJAW may actually make the roster with Greg Ward, which would leave John Hightower out of the picture.
Never a dull moment with the Birds.
