Jerry Jones Would Put Tony Romo in the Hall of Fame
Is Tony Romo a Hall of Famer?
Jerry Jones thinks so.
From Alejandro Avila at Outkick:
Romo is eligible to join the shrine in 2022, and Jerry Jones was asked about a potential Romo bid for the Hall of Fame on 103.5 The Fan.
“Well, I think there’s no question in my mind that Tony is skilled, at a skilled level, and had accomplishments statistically that were there,” said Jones. “The fact that we did not have a Super Bowl during that time is always going to be in the conversation as to where Tony Romo will rank — not rank, but where he’s acknowledged. You’re talking to a guy that he would be a first-round ballot with me, and I don’t apologize for that.”
Tony Romo is not going to the Hall of Fame.
Not only did the Cowboys fail to make a Super Bowl appearance during Romo’s nine seasons as a starter, but they couldn’t do diddly poo with their four postseason trips. They won a grand total of two games, one where they had to come back at home against the Detroit Lions and another against the Eagles. That was the Donovan McNabb air guitar entrance game.
Romo was 2-4 in the postseason, has 34,000 regular season passing yards, 248 touchdowns, and 117 interceptions. There are quarterbacks not in the Hall with better raw numbers. Unless Jerry Jones is presiding over a two-man committee and has the tie-breaking vote, Tony Romo is not getting into the HOF.
