Katie Emmer Lands a New Gig
NBC Sports Philadelphia made some changes to their Flyers broadcast this past season, with Taryn Hatcher moving from the ice to the studio to pair Scott Hartnell on the desk.
She replaced Katie Emmer, who originally took over for John Boruk but was let go in the COVID shuffle. Today she went on Twitter and announced that she’s got a new gig (and a new last name after getting married this summer):
✨New last name and a new job to go with it!✨I’m thrilled & thankful to share that I’ll be returning home to @BallySportsNOR as on-air Host & Reporter. I can’t wait to continue covering the stories of the teams I grew up watching! This time… as “Katie Storm”! pic.twitter.com/O6P91Ybusu

Bally Sports North used to be a FOX regional. What happened is that FOX sold their 22 RSNs to Sinclair, which re-branded the entire group as “Bally.” This might be the future of our local station if NBC does go ahead and sell its RSN cluster, as has been rumored. We’ll see.
Good gig for Katie though, for real. She did a nice job here in Philly and knew her hockey. She was from Minnesota, so of course she knew hockey. She’s also got a fucking cannon for an arm:
