As you’re well aware, Zach Ertz is no longer a Philadelphia Eagle, and will suit up for the undefeated Arizona Cardinals this coming weekend.

He took out a full page ad in Tuesday’s Inquirer, and explained a new project called “House of Hope” in which his family foundation will be renovating a local church for a variety of community uses.

At the Ertz Family Foundation website, fans were asked to donate $8.60 to the project, that dollar amount symbolizing his jersey number, and so far there’s been a ton of support:

Five thousand people donating $8.60 each amounts to $43,000. That’s impressive, considering that Eagles fans are “the absolute worst.”

So now the foundation has nearly $250k to start the project, and Zach is committed to finishing the job even as a Cardinal.. His mom is staying in Philly to see the project through, and his wife Julie is committed as well, even though she plays for Chicago’s NWSL team.
