There are a couple of stories floating around out there about a “new” code of conduct at the Wells Fargo Center.
A fan code has always existed, but there’s a renewed effort this season to publicize and then enforce those guidelines. Writing about it at the Inquirer, Giana Han cites Flyers President of Business Operations Valerie Camillo:
The change has been driven by the event staff, the people who come face-to-face with the arena’s guests. Camillo said the change does not come from a rise in negative interactions in Philly but rather from the increasing difficulty customer service professionals have had with guests across the nation over the last two years.
When the staff members approached Camillo, their request resonated as something she wanted to focus on, she said. Camillo then asked staffers for their thoughts.
The first thing they asked for was to simply talk about the code of conduct more often. “It was fair for our workers to point out that we don’t really talk about it very much,” Camillo said.
So one way to promote the code of conduct is via this new video, which will play before every Sixers, Flyers, and Wings game:
And here’s the code itself, which doesn’t contain anything particularly groundbreaking or controversial. It’s basically just asking fans to act like normal human beings and to behave like adults, which can sometimes be challenging for idiots:
Respect player and performer safety:
Respect the arena and arena staff:
Respect other guests:

You’ll see the code posted around the arena. The video will play before games. It seems like they just wanted to double down on publicizing behavioral guidelines at the request of the staffers who have to deal with the knuckleheads.
