Not sure if you noticed on the TNT broadcast last night, but Reggie Miller called Sixers’ forward Paul Reed “Patrick” Reed a couple of times.

Patrick Reed is a golfer. 2018 Masters winner. PGA Championship runner up the year prior. Really good player.

It’s understandable that Reggie Miller would struggle, since he’s Reggie Miller. He always makes mistakes, and when you throw in a second-year NBA guy, that compounds the goofiness.

But it happened elsewhere, with some guy voicing over a video clip shared by the NBA Twitter account, and also calling Paul Reed “Patrick” Reed:

Here’s Miller screwing it up:

We get it. Mistakes happen. Miller also called Shake Milton “Shake Middleton,” so that’s a typical Freudian slip. We had a bunch of announcers call the LA Chargers the “San Diego Chargers” after the move, and that was expected since it’s a new and odd thing.

But with the Reed thing, this is where the producer has to get in Reggie’s ear and say “hey his name is Paul Reed, you keep calling him Patrick.” Nip it in the bud. I’m sure the NBA folks just watched that video clip, heard Reggie say “Patrick,” and then repeated it during the recording and editing of that highlight reel.

The disrespect!
