Carson Wentz played every snap in Thursday night’s 45-30 win over the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets.

As you know, the Birds get Indy’s first round pick if Carson plays 75% of the snaps this season, or 70% with a playoff appearance.

Wentz has now played 597 snaps, which is 99.17%. He has played every snap in every game save for the Rams loss, in which the number was 92.5%.

So we’re well on our way to Indy handing over that first round draft pick. And with the Colts winning last night to improve to 4-5, they are treading the line Eagles fans need them to tread. You need Indy to be bad enough that the pick is in that mid to high range, but good enough that they keep Carson on the field and don’t bench him.

One of the things playing in the Birds favor is that the AFC South blows. Tennessee is 6-2 and leading the way, but just lost Derrick Henry to injury. And in the coming weeks, the Colts play this schedule:

  • vs Jaguars
  • at Bills
  • vs Bucs
  • at Texans
  • vs Patriots
  • at Cardinals
  • vs Raiders
  • at Jaguars

There are four winnable games in there: Jags, Jags, Raiders, Texans. And they’re good enough to beat the Patriots at home. If they knock off the Jags next weekend they’ll be 5-5 and in the hunt during the second half of the season, so Wentz won’t come off the field. Tennessee still has a couple of tough games remaining, so Birds fans should pull for them to lose, and make the division competitive.

Right now the Colts are averaging about 67 snaps per game, so the magic number is going to be around 850, if you extrapolate. 850 minus 597 is 253, and if you divide it up, Carson SHOULD get there with four more games. Playing a full four quarters in Houston should do the trick.

That’s about it for now. This has been your Carson Wentz snap count update. Reporting for KYW NewsRadio, I’m Kevin Kinkead. Now let’s get a check of traffic and weather on the twos.
