Announcement on #Hokies hiring Penn State DC Brent Pry likely today. @PeteThamel first. Pry’s big-whistle debut will be at @ODUFootball against his former Nittany Lions colleague Ricky Rahne. #SmallWorld

Pry has VA roots. He went to high school in Lexington, which is on that I-81 corridor north of Blacksburg. And he was a graduate assistant at The Virginia Polytechnic Institute under the great Bud Foster. It pains me to say that, since VPI is an old Big East rival, but Foster was an awesome coach and they historically put some elite defenses out there.
Losing Pry to the Hokies would be a pretty big blow to Penn State. He’s been excellent in Happy Valley, and PSU has had some incredible defensive units and individual players since Pry became the defensive coordinator in 2016, after Bob Shoop took off. Pry has been with James Franklin for 10 years now, dating back to Franklin’s Vanderbilt days.
