On Saturday night, the Philadelphia 76ers will be in Chicago to take on the Bulls in a rematch of the game these teams played just three days ago. Since then, the Bulls have been idle. The Sixers are coming off a win in Detroit on Thursday night.

Let’s get into our Sixers vs. Bulls betting pick with player prop predictions, odds, and analysis for this November 6, 2021 matchup.

Sixers vs. Bulls Betting Pick (November 6, 2021)

There is no piece of news about Ben Simmons that I have any interest in hearing other than this inevitable item: “The Philadelphia 76ers have traded G Ben Simmons to….”

I’m not interested in hearing about trade rumors. I’m not interested in hearing about the allegedly half-hearted and occasionally non-existent efforts of Simmons to comply with the team’s doctors with regard to his claimed mental health issues. I’m not interested in the Sixers withholding game checks, or fining him, or calling in dozens of Domino’s pizzas that Simmons didn’t order and watch him answer his door confused and a little pissed.

I’m not interested in any of these things because there’s no point in investing another second of emotional or intellectual energy on Ben Simmons as a Philadelphia 76er. He’s never playing here again. Never is a long time, yes, and no one knows the future…but I’m comfortable saying that he’s never playing here again. There are several reasons for that, but here are the big three: 1. The fans don’t want him back. 2. He doesn’t want to come back. 3. The Sixers have proven fairly conclusively that they are no worse (and might just be better) without him than they were with him.

Now, do I think this was some master stroke by general manager Daryl Morey? No. Before it all went so bad, if you asked Morey whether the team had a better chance for a title with Simmons or without him, he could only possibly say “with.” What Morey can take credit for, though, is not parting with players like Tyrese Maxey (14.7 points per game) and Furkan Korkmaz (10.9 points per game). Morey can also take credit for the signings of Andre Drummond and Georges Niang, both of whom are just solid professional basketball players who pretty quietly go about their business and play their roles.

To date, though, the most obvious revelation that Simmons’ absence made way for is Seth Curry, volume scorer. Curry is averaging over 17 points per game. Against the Pistons on Thursday, he was well into double digits after the first quarter. Now, a word of caution: There is no way that Curry is going to shoot 61% from the field and 53% from the three-point line all season. Regression is coming, and some of those regression games are going to be unsightly. And, well, so what? There are other scorers on this team.

So keep your Ben Simmons takes and observations to yourself around me. I’m out.

Even in a game where DeMar DeRozan went off for 37 points on Wednesday night, the Sixers held the Bulls under 100 points, and the game went under the total. It’s not like Zach LaVine was to blame, either — he had 27 and was a pretty effective 11-24 from the field. The trouble for the Bulls was that, outside of those two, nobody else did much of anything. Nik Vucevic had four points in 36 minutes, which is almost impossible to do. Alex Caruso had six points in 32 minutes, which is less surprising as Caruso is not exactly a bomber, but it’s still pretty anemic. The recipe for the Sixers to beat the Bulls again starts with another good defensive performance.

We took DeMar DeRozan in this spot on Wednesday and it was the easiest win we have had in a while. DeRozan’s number was 21.5, and he ended up with 37. It felt like stealing. So why zag here to LaVine? Because DeRozan’s number went up — after three consecutive games scoring 30 or more, the books had to adjust, and now DeRozan is no longer the gimme value he was just three nights ago. Meanwhile, Zach LaVine has been as steady as you like the last four games: 25, 26, 26, 27. There’s no reason to outsmart ourselves here.

Give Lonzo Ball this: He had every chance to put his head in the sand after it didn’t work out for him with the Los Angeles Lakers and resign himself to being a backup point guard or some kind of utility role-playing sixth man. This is especially so after all the hype that accompanied him into the league, little of which was his doing. Ball was stuck on a pretty bad New Orleans Pelicans team the past two seasons, which probably was helpful to him as he could work out some of the inefficiencies in his game without people paying all that much attention. So good for him for being a viable starter in the NBA now. But know this: For a guy who has a big reputation as a highly skilled point guard, Ball’s assist numbers are, like, okay. Not great. He’s averaging 4.5 assists this season, and if not for one game where he had 11 helpers, the average would be even lower.

Seth Curry Over 16.5 Points (-106, FOX Bet)

We covered the Seth Curry Experience above. We know this cannot go on forever. At this point, though, anyone who’s been paying attention at all should be way ahead on betting Curry’s over props for the past two weeks. Are you the person who pulls a lot of bets off the craps table when the shooter is hot? If you are, well, good for you, I guess, but where’s the fun in that? We are going to ride this Curry prop until either he or the books give us a compelling reason to stop.

Sixers vs. Bulls Prediction

It’s trite, but the absence of Ben Simmons absolutely seems to have given the Sixers a rallying point and something to prove. And thus far, you cannot possibly argue with the results. Their two losses were to the Nets at home, a game where they blew a big lead, and to the Knicks on the road, which will happen to plenty of other teams this season. As with Seth Curry, the Sixers are now in “play them until they show you you shouldn’t” territory. But take the points.
