If you opened up the Titans/Colts box score in the first quarter you saw a 14-0 Indy lead. Carson Wentz with two touchdown passes. It looked like they were humming along, chasing a third-straight win.

Then Tennessee began to catch up, as 2018 Carson made way for 2020 Carson in what amounted to a ridiculous comedy of errors in an overtime loss.

Turns out Tedy Bruschi got it 100% right when he predicted what was going to happen in this game:

Fantastic. And I’m not a anti-Carson guy, like Bob, or Investor-Emeritus Mike. I was a Carson neutral, but holy cannoli, what the hell is he doing out there? He’s throwing into triple coverage on 1st and 10 during overtime. He’s under pressure and trying to throw a shovel pass. He’s tossing up a pick-six from the end zone.*

*We put an asterisk on this play because a safety would have ended the game there. If he didn’t get rid of that ball, Tennessee gets two points and possession, and runs out the clock. So even though he shouldn’t have let it get to that point in the first place, that ultimately was the preferred outcome for that play, once it went to total shit.

Regardless, Carson played all of the snaps again. The Colts are 3-5 and could very well claw back to 5-5, because they’ve got the Jets and Jaguars in consecutive weeks. That will keep Wentz on the field, and get the Birds closer to a first round pick.
