One of the duties of the industrious sports blogger is to call out shit takes as necessary. It’s less about being right or saying “I told you so” and more about shedding light on fraudulent activity. It is our sworn oath to do this.

Today we harken back to the summer, when former NFL quarterback Chris Simms released his annual top-40 QB ranking, and left Jalen Hurts off it entirely.

Here’s a refresher for you:

Kellen Mond. Great call there! Kirk Cousins missed Sunday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota went with Sean Mannion instead. Mond was a third round pick and couldn’t beat out Sean Mannion for the backup job.

Simms also nailed it with that Andy Dalton ranking. Good one. Cam Newton and Taysom Hill also lit it up this year (not).

I know these things are arbitrary, and everybody has their own opinions, but some of the stuff on this list was laughable. We’re talking sports talk radio levels of nonsense. Jalen Hurts didn’t even make the top 40, and instead Simms decided to put guys on there who hadn’t even played a single NFL snap. Hurts is going to finish this season with more than 4,000 combined passing and rushing yards, and more than 25 total touchdowns. He’s not Aaron Rodgers, but he’s outperformed a good 25 or 26 guys on this list.

Nice job by Chris Simms. Nailed it!
