Let’s get it back to the Eagles. We’ve got a playoff game this weekend, for crying out loud.

The Birds are an 8.5 point underdog at most of the books, but this might give them an advantage:

Wet and windy and sloppy is the way to go if you want to run the football and junk the game up. Tom Brady ain’t gonna be slinging the rock in a downpour the same way he would be with clear skies and 70 degrees.

Stroud mentions that the Birds are the NFL’s #1 rushing team, which still seems crazy to fathom. But it would be different if Miles Sanders and Jordan Howard were 100% going into this game. And we don’t even know if Jalen Hurts’ ankle is still bothering him. It’s been a committee approach all year long, and you feel good about the Eagles’ run game, but this is a Tampa team that allowed the third-fewest rush yards per game in 2022. They’ve got Vita Vea and Ndamukong Suh and should return Shaq Barrett on Sunday. They’ve got some players on that defense.

The Birds weren’t yet a running team when they lost 28-22 to the Bucs back in Week 6. Jalen Hurts threw the ball 26 times in that game and Miles Sanders ran it nine times for 56 yards. Hurts added 44 yards and two scores on the ground. Howard wasn’t even in the picture back then and Boston Scott wasn’t getting snaps either.

That’s why it’s hard to take much from the film of the first game. The Eagles were a totally different team, and Tampa isn’t rolling out the same exact personnel group. Regardless, we hope it’s wet and sloppy and slippery and crappy down there. Let’s hope the meteorologists get it right.
