Eagles vs. Cowboys on Saturday night in an ultimately meaningless game. It will help determine playoff seeding, but both teams are in, and both have COVID absences, so it seems very highly likely that we get a bunch of backups for this one.
Here’s the final injury report put out by the Birds on Thursday:
Sanders is out, but we already knew that. Johnson and Dickerson are questionable but should not play anyway, since they are starting on the offensive line.
In addition, the injured reserve list includes:
And your current COVID list, as of Friday morning:
Assuming none of the guys listed above play, here’s our feeble attempt at putting together a chart of players who are available and should be involved, be it depth players or dudes pulled from the practice squad:
OFFENSE
DEFENSE
Keep in mind that the Eagles get more practice squad elevations based on the number of COVID absences. It’s feasible that you’ll see them go deeper into the reserves for that reason.
But we’re already going pretty deep down the depth chart here. There are plenty of starters available, but if you sit them all down, then we’re looking at the likes of Tyree Jackson, Ryan Kerrigan, Patrick Johnson, and Zech McPhearson out there. The offense does have some pieces in Kenny Gainwell and Tyree Jackson and a good backup QB, so we’ll see how it goes. If the Eagles play it the way we think they will, it’s gonna look like a preseason game.
