On Monday night, the Sixers will take on the Houston Rockets in Texas. The Sixers are as hot as they’ve been in a long time. They’ve won six games in a row and, at 22-16, are sneaking up on the upper echelon teams the Eastern Conference. The Rockets have lost two in a row and remain locked in the Western Conference basement.
Let’s get into our Sixers vs. Rockets betting pick with player prop predictions, odds, and analysis for this January 10, 2022 matchup.
Especially with a notoriously inconsistent team like the Sixers, it’s generally a fool’s errand to look at the schedule and project any sustained success. But man, looking at the Sixers’ upcoming schedule and based on their recent form, it’s really tempting to think about what might be.
The Rockets are terrible. They’re 11-30 on merit. The Sixers beat the Rockets by 20 points just seven days ago. Nothing is certain, but you have to like the Sixers’ chances here. After this game, the schedule continues to be, by and large, really favorable:
Can the Sixers go 7-2 over that stretch, including a win tonight? A 7-2 run here would make the Sixers 29-18 and put them on course to host a first round playoff series, which was an unfathomable thought when they were a .500 team for much of the first third of the season.
Ah, yeah, you’re right, they’ll probably go 5-4 (or worse). But it’s early January. Let us dream while we can.

The good news here is that this specific parlay has come through twice in a row. Additionally, the Rockets are an abysmal defensive team. They give up 116.5 points per game, worst in the NBA. That average wasn’t helped much by the 130 points they gave up to the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night or the 141 points they allowed to the Minnesota Timberwolves last night. The Rockets are playing the back half of a home back-to-back and are headed out on a five-game road trip through the west after this game. The only bad news here is that 226 is a lot of points, and the Sixers tried their best to miss the over against the Spurs on Friday night with some truly terrible offensive possessions in garbage time. So we like this play, we just don’t love it.

There has been a ton of money made on Embiid going over his points prop in recent weeks. He has scored 30 or more points in each of his past seven starts, including 30 against the Rockets a week ago. So why are we going under here? We’re going under here because the Rockets are not nearly as undermanned as they were a week ago, and they’re not as undermanned as the Magic and Spurs teams that Embiid scored 31 apiece against. Will he score more than 25? Yeah, probably. But dialing up 31 or more on a prop is a tough ask, especially in a game where Embiid might not be needed for much of the fourth quarter.

Green is averaging 15.3 points per game and is emerging as one of the Rockets’ primary scoring threats. The Rockets stink on defense, but they score enough points to at least be entertaining most of the time (107.9 points per game). Most of the Rockets’ best players are available tonight, and the rising tide should float Green’s points total.

If you think the Sixers will win this game relatively comfortably (which we do), there is value in taking them to win each of the first two quarters. They’re a 10.5 point favorite, and they only need to win these quarters by a point apiece. These FOX Bet boosts are consistently intriguing, and when they hit, it’s effectively free profit.

NBA teams know pretty quickly when the battle is lost, and the Rockets fit that bill. The Rockets are stuck at the bottom of the Western Conference and, after playing the Sixers tonight, will be on the road for a week and a half for a trip that includes probably ugly losses at Utah and at Golden State. Morale in the Rockets camp can’t be all that great, and the Sixers need to give them more reason to be unhappy tonight.
