Alright a lot to unpack here. I’ll do my best to tell the story because I’m sure 90% of the people reading this don’t know what the hell I’m talking about.

Two years ago, I had a sports podcast with my friend Gary, and this call about Joel Embiid during Joe Giglio’s WIP show riled me up:

Tensions were very high at the time. This was the day after Joel Embiid shushed the crowd and a season before he took his game to an MVP level. Believe it or not, Embiid wasn’t always the most beloved athlete in the city, like he is today. Embiid even made the clip from Giglio’s show resurface on September 1st when he called out Philly fans to “be better” regarding the Ben Simmons situation:

Now, most people are mature enough to brush off the call as an overreaction from another uninformed sports radio caller (Kinkead: it’s that idiot, Mad Mike). I wasn’t one of those people. Between this and the Wentz vs. Foles discourse I had enough of Joe Giglio and ESP. I had to defend my guy Joel. So I did it the only way a guy in his 20s can nowadays. On my podcast. Like an adult, I called out Joe Giglio and bet him $5,000 to the charity of his choice, that he wouldn’t be on WIP in 2 years with these kinds of takes:

With no skin off his back, Joe agreed to the bet and he chose Operation Smile, an organization that helps treat children with cleft lips:

And two years came fast…

Time to pay up. Like a Lannister I always pay my debts…well except for that chiropractor I went to who’s been trying to collect $30 for one appointment five years ago. Who writes checks anymore?

For the next 50 months I will donate $100 to Operation Smile.

Here’s donation number one:

The funny part is Gary and I just re-started The Wooderboys podcast and episode 1 dropped today with Joe Giglio on to talk about the whole situation:

New episodes will be released every Wednesday! Give it a listen and subscribe to the pod!
