Joel Embiid (or Jackie MacMullan) was on 97.5 the Fanatic on Monday afternoon, talking to Mikey Miss about James Harden, his MVP run, and if Ben Simmons’ reaction to his comments after Game 7 were unreasonable:

Mikey Miss is on a little bit of a heater right now, between this interview with Joel and the Daryl Morey one last month. The one thing I like about Joel and Daryl is they are refreshingly honest in a sport where there is a lot of smoke and mirrors. Joel was more than open, as he’s been all season, with how he felt about the whole situation. He even said he’d welcome back Ben if he woke up one day and just decided to play.

When it comes down to it, though, if Ben Simmons is still not over postgame comments from last year, then this was never going to work out in the long run in Philly. If it wasn’t for Joel or Doc River’s comments after that Hawks loss, then it would’ve been something else. Simmons sounds like he was a ticking time bomb waiting to explode:

Some other notes from the interview:

  • Joel has reached out to Ben on different occasions, but when Mike asked if he responded, Joel elected to keep it private.
  • Arthur Embiid is 16 months old now. Joel isn’t going to force basketball on his son and actually hopes he becomes the Cameroonian Peter Crouch and takes up “real football” as he called it.
  • We got a mention about Center City SIPS, which I didn’t have on my bingo card. Joel Embiid loved SIPS.

Not many James Harden nuggets, but lets just say this is one:

He’s having fun. Isn’t that what matters most in the grand scheme of this thing we call life?
