Not sure if you remember this, but back in November, veteran NFL sideline reporter Michele Tafoya went on The View and tangled with Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar. They got into everything. COVID vaccines, critical race theory, etc. It sort of came out of left field because people only knew Tafoya as a sports reporter and didn’t know anything about her politics or personal opinions.

After that appearance, she had a couple of weekend TV absences, and people speculated that she was suspended, which NBC said was not the case. They described it as planned time off. But a few weeks later, Andrew Marchand at the New York Post reported that Tafoya was leaving NBC at the end of the NFL season and sure enough, she resurfaced this week with a new gig in politics.

Mike Rosenstein at NJ.com:

Tafoya appeared Wednesday on FOX News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” to talk about her transition from football to politics. The Athletic reports Tafoya “will be the co-chair of a political campaign for businessman and Army veteran Kendall Qualls, who announced in January that he is running as a Republican candidate for governor in Minnesota.” And based on what she told Carlson, Tafoya is taking a stand for what she believes.

Hannah Grossman at Fox News:

Tafoya explained that moving on to something where she can “give back” to America has been nagging at her conscience for quite some time.

“This has been on my mind. I’ve been waking up every day with a palpable pull at my gut. My middle-ground, … moderate viewpoint is not being represented to the rest of the world. And so rather than, you know, just banging it out on Twitter or Instagram every day – I thought – I’ve got to do something. I have benefited greatly from the American dream, and I feel like for the sake of my kids and because I so love this country, I’ve got to start giving back,” she said.

My first thought is that nobody ever willingly walks away from a high-level job like that one. NFL sideline reporter? You’ve got it made. She’s set for life, and all she has to do is ask Doug Pederson what halftime adjustments he has to make.

But regardless of the woman’s politics, you have to admit that it requires some cajones to quit a cushy job to take a stand for what you think is right. We’d give the same plaudits if, for instance, Dan Le Batard quit sports radio to help AOC win re-election.

Anyway, I would love to hear Brett Brown say “Michele Tafoya.” He would likely say “Tafoy-err” in that thick accent.

She went on a media tour and did Megyn Kelly’s show, Clay Travis, and Tucker, etc:
