Late Friday news dump from Shams that will send Philadelphia into a tailspin for the weekend. The Brooklyn Nets are reportedly willing to discuss packages surrounding James Harden right now:

Shams:

With the NBA trade deadline just days away on Feb. 10, the 76ers are expected to pursue Harden in the coming days and the Nets are believed to be open to discussing a deal, sources with knowledge of the situation tell The Athletic. There’s expectation that both the 76ers and Nets will engage in dialogue on a deal around Simmons for Harden, multiple sources say, with Philadelphia holding a chest of role players in Seth Curry, Tyrese Maxey and Matisse Thybulle that could sweeten a potential package. Still, there’s no urgency for Nets officials, who have had the steadfast belief that the current core, as is, has the means necessary for a championship. However, it’s believed that an opening exists should an offer elevate the team and make the roster more well-rounded as the franchise pursues a championship.

Anybody but Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid. Picks, swaps, Matisse Thybulle, the Rocky statue, the rights to naming Joel Embiid’s second child, whatever the Nets want other than our two stars, lets do it. Now I’m not over the moon about giving up major assets for 32 year old James Harden who’s missed 40+ games the last 1.5 years, has a $47 million option on the table, and a down year offensively. But if you’re looking to maximize another Joel Embiid MVP run and you think this is the best shot at a title go for it and ask questions later. I’ll never kill an organization for going all in and mortgaging the future. This might be your best opportunity at getting a star back until Damian Lillard realizes the Trailblazers are tanking. If Daryl can pull this off the Sixers are the clear East favorite. If Daryl can keep Maxey build the statue and lets get ready for the parade. Who do you guard? You can’t double Embiid and leave Harden and Seth Curry open. Imagine all the lob potential to Andre Drummond on the second unit as teams lock in on Harden driving. It’ll take the scoring burden off of Tobi. Yea we’ll take a backseat defensively because any deal probably includes Thybulle, but screw it. Defense is for try hards.
