Sixers vs. Bucks Betting Odds, Picks, Prediction (February 17, 2022)
On Thursday night, the Sixers will be in Milwaukee to take on the Bucks in the final game before the All-Star break for both teams. The Sixers lost by 48 points to the Boston Celtics at home on Tuesday night and thereby fell to fifth in the Eastern Conference at 34-23. The Bucks beat the Pacers on Tuesday night to move to 36-23 and are currently third in the conference.
Let’s get into our Sixers vs. Bucks betting pick with player prop predictions, odds, and analysis for this February 17, 2022 matchup.
Sixers vs. Bucks Betting Pick (February 17, 2022)
In retrospect, as always, it was reasonably obvious what the Sixers were going to do Tuesday night.
From the moment it was announced that the Sixers had rid themselves of Ben Simmons and landed James Harden, the mood around the Sixers and the Wells Fargo Center has been pretty giddy. The end of any toxic relationship causes real endorphin release. It’s only natural.
Ah, but then the realization set in that Harden wasn’t ready to play yet and wouldn’t be ready to play until after the All-Star break, and, well, all that excitement and energy was quickly blunted. That news turned the Sixers’ focus to the time that Harden would be ready to go, i.e., maybe February 25. Maybe. And with their attention turned that far forward in the calendar, the Sixers seemed to forget that the game against the Celtics was not an exhibition or a place-holder — it counted. The Celtics didn’t have any such distractions, and the Sixers were never, ever, ever in the game.
Perhaps this is understandable or even forgivable. But try telling that to the 20,960 people who got to watch guys like Paul Reed and Paul Millsap mop up in the fourth quarter, with the game and any lingering thrill of having Harden in the building long since gone.

The book is effectively laughing at this selection with that +498. We don’t think it’s going to happen, either, but if the Sixers are going to win this game, they’re going to have to bank on a bad night from the Bucks. The Sixers have averaged just under 100 points per game in their last four. They won two of those games, but they are definitely limping to the All-Star break.

We’re not looking at a great return with -125 here, but then again, we don’t think there’s a lot of risk on this one, either. Antetokounmpo had 50 points two nights ago and has scored 28 or more in seven of his last eight starts.

Jrue Holiday Over 16.5 Points (-120, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Again…not likely to make a killing at -120. And again, so what? Take what they give you. Holiday is averaging 23.9 points per game over his last ten starts, and the Sixers did very little to slow down the Celtics’ guards on Tuesday night.

It’s not generally good practice to get improperly selective with the statistics you rely on to support an angle. For example, Embiid took one three-pointer on Tuesday night. He missed it. The one attempt and the miss exist. We can’t pretend that they don’t. OK, but he also played only 26 minutes in the game and didn’t play in the fourth quarter. So…we’re throwing that one out. In the prior five games, Embiid hit at least two triples four times. That figures, since he took 29 of them in those five games. Assuming he hoists up five or six treys tonight, he should make at least two of them.

The Sixers have their bags packed for the All-Star break. This game in Milwaukee tonight is the last obligation between now and a week of rest/relaxation/enjoyment for the vast majority of the roster. Embiid and Maxey will be in Cleveland this weekend (Embiid in the All-Star Game, Maxey in the Rising Stars contest)…everyone else will be off the grid. If the Sixers were playing at home tonight, or against a weaker team, you could project a bounce-back from Tuesday night’s beating. But they’re playing the defending champs on the road. There’s only one logical outcome here.
