Another Flyers move ahead of the 3 p.m. deadline:

I’m not an NHL prospect follower, but a brief perusal of social media reveals that the 2022 draft class is supposedly weaker than the 2023 draft class. Maybe that makes you feel better about flipping Braun for a 2023 third instead of a second this year. Dunno. Just seems like Chuck Fletcher is getting peanuts for these outgoing players. The Giroux thing is understandable since he would only go to Florida and didn’t give the Flyers much flexibility here, but all of this feels very meh to me. G for very little, Braun for a third, Risto back here on a beefy deal.

RE: no salary retention, Braun was making $1.8 million this year. He was in the second year of his two-year deal and would have walked for nothing, so I guess the theme of this Flyers’ trade deadline is “would you prefer to be disappointed with the return, or get nothing at all?” Put it on the Flyers’ 2022 DVD.
