Kevin Frandsen took a new gig with the Nationals in January, becoming their TV color commentator. He was previously doing about half of the radio broadcasts for the Phillies.

Now, according to Todd Zolecki at MLB.com, the Phils are going with a platoon to replace him:

“The club is closing in on four former Phillies, according to sources: Michael Bourn, Chad Durbin, Erik Kratz and Kevin Stocker. Each is expected to work different road series in 2022 as color analysts, alongside play-by-play announcer Scott Franzke.

Frandsen worked almost exclusively on the road with (Scott) Franzke from 2019-21, while Larry Andersen worked home games.

Andersen will be back at Citizens Bank Park this season. Gregg Murphy is expected to see an increased role on radio, too, hosting the Phillies pregame and postgame shows both at home and on the road. He will occasionally fill in for Franzke as well.”

I have zero thoughts on Bourn, Durbin, Kratz, and Stocker, though I believe Franzke naturally elevates anybody sitting next to him. What say you?

I do think getting Murph more involved is a good idea. It was a surprise when NBC let him go, and I think he was generally well-liked by the majority of Phillies fans. He’s a veteran of the game. He’s been here for many years, so people know what they’re getting.

As you know, there is no baseball right now because of the lock out. The first two series of the 2022 season were cancelled, and there’s been no movement since Rob Manfred addressed reporters earlier this week. He stinks. The owners also stink. The players share some of the blame of course, but not nearly as much as the billionaires who don’t even like baseball.
