Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman is an honorary Yinzer. He was actually born in Reading and grew up in York, but built his political career in the Pittsburgh region, so he’s known as more of a Western Pennsylvania guy.

That background explains his pro-Sheetz and anti-Wawa stance, which manifests in the occasional snarky Twitter post. In December of 2020, for example, he poo-poo’d Wawa opening its first drive-through, in Burlington County, suggesting that Sheetz is Shangri-La or something along those lines.

So when Fetterman toured the great borough of Lansdale* on Wednesday, our friends at North Penn Now (shout out Keith H) had the cajones to ask the important questions, do some real journalism, and get Fetterman to set the record straight once and for all:

I watched this a few times. Originally, I thought he had lost the Delco vote with this answer. He had turned Folsom and Morton red.

HOWEVER –

I later came to realize that this might be a good position for him to take, because he is not a flip flopper. He is not going to pander to the Delaware Valley. Dude likes Sheetz better than Wawa. He’s wrong, but he sticks to his guns, and he’s true to his convictions. That earns you points in the Delaware Valley. I have people on Twitter saying that Delco respects folks who are straight shooters and not bullshitters.

Now I know what’s coming next. Some wise guy in the comments is gonna say “yeah well the quality of Wawa has really gone downhill in recent years.” Nobody cares. I’d take Wawa at 50% quality before I’d take Sheetz at 110% quality. Sheetz is for people who don’t mind clogged arteries. People like Russ Joy.

Therefore, I believe we can now bring this issue to a close. Fetterman is wrong, but he’s being honest and he’s not a flip flopper, so we can respect that.

Disclaimer: This is not an endorsement of any kind. I don’t even care about politics, nor do I even know anybody else running for senate other than Dr. Oz, who was at an Eagles game a few months ago. Plus, every time we write something on the website that might be 0.00000001% political, half of the people on Facebook think we’re soy boy liberals and the other half think we’re the Proud Boys. You can’t win, because everything is so polarized these days.

*Joe Judge is a disgrace to the great borough of Lansdale

EDIT – from the North Penn Now story:

Fetterman, who was joined by his wife, Gisele, along with a handful of local elected officials and party leaders, began his visit with a meet and greet at Boardroom Spirits, before heading out into the borough to meet with residents and local business owners. Stops included Well Crafted Beer Co., Scent and SipRound Guys Brewing Company and Backyard Beans.

All of these spots are great. Mr. Fetterman has great taste, other than the Sheetz thing.
