They took a seven-point lead into the fourth quarter and lost by four. It was pretty desolate. The loss dropped the Sixers to 41-26. They are 3.5 games out of first place in the conference and one game ahead of fifth place, i.e., they are one game from being on the road in the first Rond of the playoffs. It’s not great.
As for the Cavaliers, their early-season success is in a slow ebb. They are 39-29 and in sixth place in the Eastern Conference.

The Sixers still can’t hold a lead, they still don’t have closers, and they still have defensive lapses at all the wrong times.
The schedule-makers concurrently helped the Sixers and screwed the Sixers with tonight’s game. It had to be aggravating to leave Philadelphia just to go to Cleveland for one mid-week game when the next three games will be home games. Then again, they get Cleveland when they are missing center Jarrett Allen, a big who might have slowed Joel Embiid down tonight.

This prop is on the low side because the Cavaliers have the second-best defense in the league based on opponents’ points per game (103.8). The Sixers cannot expect to win a grind-it-out game based on recent evidence. They’re going to need to hit shots in bunches to win this game.

Garland has made three or more three-pointers in nine of his last 12 games. He is also putting up a lot of triples — a whopping 84 attempts over that 12-game span, an even seven per game.
